Computer Network Information Center and Intel successfully held China HPC Developer Forum
Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Intel Corporation jointly organized China High Performance Computing (HPC) Developer Forum in Beijing on January 15. Themed on “open architecture and powerful chip”, the forum aims to provide the developers with a platform to exchange and discuss ideas on high performance computing technology, technical solutions and applications. More than 200 experts from public and private sectors attended the forum and reported the latest progress of high performance computing technologies and the achievement of bilateral collaboration.
Apart from a plenary lecture on CAS supercomputing environment and applications of Intel Parallel Computing Center at CNIC, three parallel sessions were arranged on HPC systems software and technology, HPC for education and research, and HPC for industry and commercial use and big data applications. Computer scientists from China and the U.S. had in-depth discussions about solutions to optimize and improve the software performance of HPC applications on the basis of open architecture.
China’s first Intel Parallel Computing Center (IPCC) was jointly established by Intel Corporation and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing last April. The forum demonstrated the progress of this IPCC, which has promoted a large number of applications in various research fields such as material science, life science, computational chemistry & computational physics and achieved good results in the two directions of phase-field and molecular simulation.
