Information Technology- Scientific Data Citation (GB/T 35294-2017) developed by CNIC will be effective as of July 1
Developed by the Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences and released by the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China, Information Technology- Scientific Data Citation (GB/T 35294-2017) will be effective as of July 1, 2018. Scientific Data Citation defines methods for cited element description, citation formats, among others, which is applicable to both individual and institutional data users. It allows institutional users to design their in-house data citation system and stipulate their own rules, as well as individual users to format data citation. A social consensus has been reached on data-driven innovative development in the big data era. Once Scientific Data Citation (GB/T 35294-2017) is promulgated, scientific data can be cited by peer researchers in such a standardized format as research papers, which will urge data owners to open their data.

On May 1 2018, the Information Technology—Data Provenance Descriptive Model (GB/T 34945-2017), developed by the Computer Network Information Center, took effect. It proposed an easy-to-use data provenance descriptive model- ProVOC model. The model allows system designers and data users alike to describe data provenance during data collection, release, analysis and processing. Up to now, five sets of national standards have been issued by the working group of China National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee. Among them, the Computer Network Information Center has chaired and developed two sets and participated in one.
