Experts from Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information Visited CNIC
Invited by Future Network and Technology Application Laboratory (Future Network Lab), the delegation led by Dr. Dongkyun Kim, Chief Researcher of Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), visited the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from April 15 to 19. During the academic visit, the two sides held a bilateral meeting to discuss about the plans for future collaboration moderated by Prof. Ren Yongmao. Prof. Liao Fangyu, Director General of CNIC and experts from Future Network Lab, Science and Technology Cloud Department and Division of R&D Management participated in the meeting.
Prof. Liao Fangyu delivered a speech and warmly welcomed the arrival of KISTI experts, and the two sides expressed a common interest in strengthening the collaboration between CNIC and KISTI. Dr. Dongkyun Kim gave an academic report entitled KREONET Softwarification: CNIC/CST-Cloud and KISTI/KREONET-S Collaboration, focusing on KREONET's SNN-based network softening project and its VDN (Virtually Dedicated Networking) network system. Dr. Yong-Hwan Kim presented an academic report entitled International ONOS/VDN Federation, introducing the SDN network interconnection technology developed by KREONET. Finally, Ren Yongmao made a report entitled CSTCloud Testbed and CCN-SDN Testbed, and introduced the advanced network test bed based on CSTCloud and the technical scheme of China-Korea cooperation and exchange project. After each side reported the research progress, the participants had an in-depth discussion and exchanged ideas on SDN technology related issues.
The visit is supported by the international exchange project between the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Research Foundation of Korea, entitled Software Definition Interconnection between China and Korea for Science Big Data Transmission Based on CCN. During the visit, research teams of the two sides also held a number of work meetings to discuss about the specific technical scheme for the implementation of the project.
