Strengthening Open Science Cooperation: A Dialogue at CNIC
On 27th March, CSTCloud and the GOSC International Programme Office (GOSC IPO) welcomed a delegation of Brazilian parliamentarians to the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Ms. Chen Yu, International Cooperation Manager of CNIC, CAS, chaired this meeting, and members of the CSTCloud technical team joined the dialogue.
During the visit, Brazilian Parliamentarian Delegate, the State Deputy of Ceará, Mr. Missias Dias, emphasized the essential role of digital technologies in driving global sustainable development and highlighted Brazil’s strong commitment to strategic scientific and technological cooperation with China.
The CSTCloud and GOSC teams presented recent, significant progress, particularly in network connectivity, data and information infrastructure development, and cloud computing. They also shared recent artificial intelligence pilots and domain demonstrations and reported the promising progress of the Global Open Science Cloud Initiative.
Discussions highlighted the urgent need for co-building trustworthy e-infrastructures and digital ecosystems to address critical sustainable development challenges such as ICT-enabled smart agriculture and social inequality.
This South-South collaboration supported by the CSTCloud and GOSC Initiative aligns with the United Nations’ International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD). It will help demonstrate enhanced GOSC capacity building in regions and domains. (Xueting Li & Lili Zhang).
