3rd Global Open Science Cloud Workshop successfully held
Date: Sep 27, 2022
Jointly supported by the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI), Computer Network Information Center (CNIC), and Committee on Data of the International Science Council (ISC-CODATA), the 3rd Global Open Science Cloud Workshop has been held in Prague and online on September 22nd, bringing together worldwide experts from international organizations, academic institutions, and businesses. Discussions mainly focus on the general overview of the Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) Initiative, engagement with the global cloud service industry, and implementation stories. Among twelve invited talks, representatives from the GOSC Steering Group (SG), Technical Infrastructure and Data Interoperability Working Groups (WGs), Radar Data, and SDG 13 Case Studies Groups (CS) actively engaged with lightening speeches delivered accordingly. Among them, Dr. Jianhui LI, Professor of CNIC and CAS GOSC project PI, introduced the progress of the GOSC research, with a GOSC testbed prototype highlighted. "The mission of the GOSC Initiative is to build a digital, cross-continental, and federated ecosystem for research development and innovation. This prototype system would fulfill its mission by providing a robust technical solution for further implementation. We are delighted to embark on this wonderful journey with global stakeholders", says Jianhui. GOSC Initiative is of great significance for advancing international scientific cooperation in the open science scenario. This workshop continues the dialogue between research e-infrastructures, offering a unique opportunity for open-science collaboration between different scientific communities and the industry.
