Brief Introduction

Computer Network Information Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) is the birthplace of China's Internet. It serves as a research, development, construction, operation and service support institution for scientific research informatization and management informatization of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), as well as a demonstration base for informatization technology innovation, R&D and application. It boasts national-level innovation bases and platforms in advanced networks, high-performance computing and scientific data fields. The Center is also a co-construction partner of the "School of Computer Science and Technology" and "School of Cyber Security" under the integration of science and education of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
By undertaking scientific and technological projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 863/973 Programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Key R&D Program, projects funded by the National Development and Reform Commission, and the CAS Pilot Special Projects, the Center is committed to cultivating high-level talents in information technology and informatization applications, as well as interdisciplinary talents in informatization, focusing on research directions including computer networks and cloud computing, high-performance computing and intelligent computing, big data technologies and systems, management information systems, cyber security, and internet information communication.
The Center is authorized to offer doctoral programs in two first-level disciplines, namely Computer Science and Technology and Cyber Security, as well as a full-time professional doctoral program in Electronic Information. It also hosts a postdoctoral research station in the first-level discipline of Computer Science and Technology.
The Center has a high-caliber faculty team composed of recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, members of the National High-Level Talent Special Support Program, and outstanding overseas returnees. Currently, it has 22 full-time doctoral supervisors, 53 full-time master's supervisors, over 250 enrolled graduate students and more than 10 postdoctoral researchers in station.
The Center has established a sound research assistant system, various scholarship and grant evaluation systems, and a graduate education fund for its students. During their studies, graduate students are entitled to a range of benefits including multiple scholarships and grants, commercial medical insurance, and research assistant allowances. They also have the opportunity to participate in a rich variety of cultural, educational and sports activities organized by Party and League organizations, the Graduate Union and professional departments.
Graduates of the Center are mainly employed by internet enterprises such as Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent (BAT), state-owned enterprises including banks, mobile and telecom companies, universities and research institutions, overseas universities, as well as government departments through civil service examinations. Many graduates have won prestigious awards such as the ACM Gordon Bell Prize and been selected into programs like the Changjiang Scholars Young Scholars Program.
