“SciMatrix” made by CNIC Goes Live

Date: Mar 27, 2026

SciMatrix is the first general-purpose AI agent-scientist collaboration platform for interdisciplinary research, developed by the Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The platform is dedicated to building a new research ecosystem characterized by human–AI integration, multidisciplinary cooperation, and cross-domain synthesis. Since the launch of its internal beta testing in November 2024, SciMatrix has undergone continuous iterative upgrades. The new version features a more focused core collaboration model, an expanded roster of 25 AI agent experts, a newly introduced chatroom-style interactive interface, and mobile device adaptation.

Mobile SciMatrix Interface

SciMatrix has refined and upgraded three core multi-mode research collaboration functions, comprehensively covering all stages of the research process:

l Proposal Discussion: By integrating multi-source data, this function transforms researchers' preliminary ideas into structured, actionable technical proposals.

l Strategic Foresight Assessment: With a forward-looking perspective spanning the next three to five years, this function generates domain-level strategic insights.

l Scientific and Technological Evaluation: Through in-depth literature analysis and cross-disciplinary perspectives, this function provides a comprehensive and objective assessment of proposals in terms of feasibility, risks, and benefits.

Some Subject Experts

SciMatrix delivers an intelligent conversational interaction experience. After a user presents a goal or question, they enter a chatroom shared with various AI agents. Users can observe the project lead assigning tasks while discipline-specific experts freely share their perspectives on the researcher's questions within the group chat, faithfully replicating the dynamics of a real-world discussion.
