Brief Introduction of International Cooperation
Comprising a comprehensive research and development network, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) brings together scientists and engineers from China and around the world to address both theoretical and applied problems using world-class scientific and management approaches. Under the umbrella of CAS, CNIC is an informatization research institution to support research and socioeconomic development.
CNIC has established partnerships with international academic organizations such as EGI Foundation, GéANT, GWDG, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, Kano University of Science and Technology in Nigeria, Nile Center for Technology Research in Sudan, Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Internet2 and U.S. National Center for Supercomputing Applications, on a broad range of topics such as the development of open science cloud, advanced network and network technologies, persistent identifier service, and computing technologies and applications.
CNIC also participates in various international organizations or initiatives such as founding organization of the Global Ring Network for Advanced Application Development, supporting organization of the Committee on Data (CODATA) of International Science Council and academia participant of International Telecommunication Union; and has experts holding executive or consulting positions in several organizations such as CODATA, Asia Pacific Advanced Network and World Wide Web Consortium.
In addition, CNIC has organized various influential international conferences, such as three annual conferences of CODATA, 9th IEEE International Conference on e-Science, eighteen sessions of Chinese-American Networking Symposium, thirteen sessions of International Conference on Theoretical and High Performance Computational Chemistry, and five CODATA training workshops for developing countries.
