CNIC Opened its Doors to the Public

Date: May 21, 2019

Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences opened its doors on May 18 to allow public access to its cyberinfrastructure and research, which attracted more than 800 students, teachers, parents and other visitors from all walks of life. The morning public lecture session combined the briefing on the history of CNIC and the fascinating insights from researchers and engineers highlighting the promising areas of future network, high-performance computing and data visualization. Then all visitors took tours to CNIC’s cyberinfrastructure facilities and data visualization demonstration environment, and watched well-received science videos and films recommended by Virtual Science Museums of China.

As one of the supporting organizations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CNIC held the above activities according to the academy’s policy and deployment on Public Open Day, an annual science outreach endeavor across the academy.
