GOSC Representative Talks About Open Science Infrastructures In Support Of Disaster Mitigation
Five selected reports covered diverse topics, such as information ethics, data interoperability, risk-informed techniques, Open Science, and the application of artificial intelligence in DRR. Professor Jianhui LI, Vice President of the Committee on Data of the International Science Council (CODATA) and CAS GOSC PI, shared his insights on Open Science with a talk entitled “Advancing open science infrastructures for disaster mitigation.” He mainly reported the progress of the GOSC Initiative, including the technical framework and testbed prototype, with a particular highlight on its SDG-13 case study and the future engagement with IRDR. “The open-science infrastructures supported by GOSC and IRDR will jointly facilitate disaster mitigation research and decision-making across regions and domains,” said Jianhui.
So far as we see, GOSC and IRDR plan to co-build a collaborative environment showcasing IRDR for early career researchers and an SDGs workbench for interoperable hazard data analysis. Digital technologies offer immense opportunities for scientific discoveries in DRR, as pointed out by Professor Qunli Han, Executive Director of IRDR. Likewise, GOSC also highly addresses cutting-edge technologies, especially technical solutions featuring interconnectivity, interoperability, and inclusiveness to support disciplinary demonstrations, such as the engagement in DRR and a few others.
Besides, several GOSC events are coming, including the International Symposium on Open Science Cloud (ISOSC) (September 4-6, Beijing, China), the 2023 International Training Workshop on Open Science and SDGs, and the 2023 International Data Week GOSC session facilitated by the International Program Office of GOSC collaboratively supported by CODATA and the Computer Network Information Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNIC, CAS). Welcome to join us at the GOSC community! (Xueting LI, Lili ZHANG).
